Assassin's Creed Odyssey - What We Know, Information, Rumors, Release Date

Hey guys! Welcome back to another post in the Games Insiders! Where today we are going to be talking about one of my favorite franchise of all time! If you guys are wondering why it took me such a long time to make a new post, it's because I was on a holiday break for few months. It's been a long time, and during that time I have decided to just quickly talk about my favorite video game franchise of all time. In fact, the last Assassins Creed game, Assassin's Creed Origins was my favorite game of 2017. I was actually going to do this post before I took a break, but because of some time schedule problem, this post was delayed for a few months. Without any farther to do let's start today's AMAZING post!!!

About

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a game set in one of my most favorite places of all time, Ancient Greek. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is going to be the 11th main entry in the Assassin's franchise and will focus a lot on RPG also known as Role-Playing Games. This game is also the earliest game in the Assassin's franchise to be ever made. Assassin's Creed Odyssey takes place in the year 431BCE. As usual, the console will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows. However, this game might come out to the Nintendo Switch depending on how big and how popular the game is. This game will also be released on October 5th, 2018.

As I have mentioned before this game will be focusing on RPG aspects. If you guys aren't familiar with RPG games that are pretty much games like Elder Scrolls and Fallout. At the start of the game, you will be given a choice to choose between a male character (Alexis) or a female character
(Kassandra). Like most RPG games you will be given dialogue options and you can also do open world stuff. This game has also adopted some features from the GTA franchise, which I will talk more about later. There are also other similar features from the Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. However, I will talk more about that later.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a game developed and published by Ubisoft, who are also the creators of one of my favorite game of this year: Far Cry 5. Anyways let's just assassinate people on to the next section of this post (sorry, bad joke).

What We Know

We actually know a lot about this game right now, and today we are going to be going through all of the things that we know, the systems, and pretty much everything you will need to know about Assassin's Creed Odyssey. We have a lot to go through because there are some different features from the previous Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed Origins, and there are also new features that we need to go through today. So without any farther to do, let's start the What We Know section of the blog.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey as I have mentioned before, will now heavily emphasize RPG into this game. Now in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you will be given a choice for dialogue options. The options
you choose in the game will affect a lot of things. For example, if you let a rebel survive the rebel might kill your friends. However, if you let the rebel die, the rebel will just fly around in heaven or hell, or wherever you go when you die. That's just one of many examples that I could tell you, but because of spoilers and stuff that's the only things that I am going to be telling you. Like a lot of RPG games, you will have different endings depending on the choices you make in the game and this game will also contain branching quests. Other than that, you are also able to romance some of the characters in the game (gender doesn't matter). For example, from the gameplay we saw from E3, you can romance 2 characters from Delios, who are the rebel leaders. As in the good rebels, not the ones against you. However, you need to do certain things to unlock the romance options. You will have to be nice and bring gifts.

Now I am going to be talking about the GTA feature that I told you guys about. In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you can commit crimes and murder random people. That part is pretty normal, but if you do
crimes and stuff there will be consequences. For example, if you go around killing citizens the mercenary star thing will increase. The mercenary level can increase to 5 stars. And if it does reach level 5, the mercenary hunting for you will be very strong. However, if you do kill a mercenary, they bring around great loot and stuff so if you want to hunt for mercenaries you can just kill random people until you reach the level where mercenaries start going after you. But other than that there are other ways to find a mercenary. Mercenaries could be found just wandering around the world. If you attack them, they will attack back so be aware.

Now let's talk a bit about the story but before that...

SPOILER ALERT      SPOILER ALERT      SPOILER ALERT

Now that I covered the message through Y'all (I'm not from Texas) I will now be talking about the story of this game. Although I am only going to be talking about the beginning of the game like how the character is so powerful when this game is set, and the main story purpose of the game. There really aren't many spoilers, but I know there are some of u who are super sensitive to spoilers, so now that the message is out there let's start. But remember, I did warn you. If you don't want to read this part of the section, scroll down until you find a section called Rumors.

Alright, let's start off with how the characters became so powerful. Well, it is all because the character (Alexios or Kassandra) is descended from the Spartan King Leonidas I. You have inherited his broken spear, which has been forged into a tiny blade, a lot like a dagger, which gives you amazing
powers. You can get different powers using the dagger by upgrading it in your skill tree. I will talk more about the whole skill tree thing later.

Let's now discuss more about the story plot. We don't know much about how the story will go and everything, but we do know how the start of the game will go. So without any farther to do let's dive into the story plot of this game!

The story starts off with you being a mercenary dating back all the way to 431BCE. This game recounts the fictional version of the Peloponnesian war. If you don't know what it is, I won' tell you because of some spoiler stuff. I don't know if the whole war actually matters though, because at the start of the game you will be given a choice to choose your side in the war. You can either be a Spartan soldier or an Athenian soldier. You are basically experiencing the war which is really cool. We also know that you might get kicked out of your position as a mercenary at one point. But we are not 100% sure about that part.

Since I mentioned the skill tree and stuff, let's just move on to the topic of a new feature that was added last year in Assassin's Creed: Origins, the skill tree. Basically, you earn a skill point when you level up, and you can use those skill points to buy a new skill in the skill tree. In Assassin's Creed Odyssey you can level up to level 50, but there will probably be DLC and stuff which will allow you to level up beyond level 50. There are three categories that you can spend your skill points on the hunter (improves your archery), warrior (improves your combat) and assassin (improves your stealth skills). That is also how you unlock new skills.

Let's now talk about a new feature that was added to Assassin's Creed Odyssey, also known as the adrenaline. We kind of saw this feature last year in Assassin's Creed Origins, but there are more to it now in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. As in Assassin's Creed Origins, if your adrenaline bar was full you
would use a special skill also known as the 'overpower' attack. Now in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you use one bar of Adrenaline and you use 3 bars of Adrenaline to use the 'overpower' attack. For example, if you unlock the Spartan kick ability from the skill tree, you will be able to use it by spending one bar of adrenaline in the game.

Different armors also give you different special effects. For example, your helmet might give you a 15% extra assassin damage, meaning any stealth attacks will do 15% more damage. You can also add different enchantments and stuff, which will boost up some sort of a skill. For example, an enchantment can increase your hunter damage such as using a bow and arrow.

Let's now talk about another feature that is going to be added to Assassin's Creed Odyssey. This actually isn't a new feature, as this feature was added in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. As you may know, back in the old Ancient Greece, boats and navies were a huge part of the ancient world. In this game, you can recruit your enemies or special people to join your crew in your boat. You can also use your crew to help you during combat, which you can do by unlocking one of the assassin skills in the skill tree. You can even recruit commanders and pretty much anyone, as long as they aren't a boss or anything. Different crew you have will give you different boosts, and each crew has their own specialty. I think this is a really cool feature, and I am glad Ubisoft brought it back to the Assassin's Creed franchise.

The next thing we are going to be discussing about is the assassin skills. A lot of Assassin's Creed fans are worried that the whole sneaking gameplay part will disappear. However, I myself can confirm that the sneaking thing will be a even bigger thing in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Sure, there are some features where you can't ignore assassin stuff, but most of the time you will be able to sneak around and assassinate people.

A new feature we are going to be talking about is the conquest battles. Basically, in this new feature,
you have to fight in a huge battle against another city state. That's how you can kind of 'liberate' a city state. For example in a gameplay we saw in E3, you can 'liberate' Delos Island to be your side. You just basically have to kill the commanders and try to kill more enemies than the other side. It is a really cool feature, but you can't really do assassinations in this feature.

Well, that's about it, let's move on to the rumors section of this blog. There really are interesting rumors going around about this game, so we are going to be talking about most of those rumors and how credible it is.

Rumors

There really are some interesting rumors going around about this game at this moment. One of them is the rumor that there will be mythical creatures. If you ask me, I think the whole mythical idea is great, because there really are some interesting monsters and beings in Greek mythology. The reason why this rumor started is all because of a very interesting footage that we saw at E3. At the end of the clip in E3, we saw what looks like a monster with horns. This highly suggests that we might see many monsters such as the Minotaur which is what the monster that we saw is most likely to be. This suggested that there could be mythical creatures in this game. It will be really interesting to see gods and stuff in the game, which will make this game much more interesting. In Assassin's Creed Origins, we saw something called the Trials of Anubis, where you get to fight gods, and you will be rewarded if you beat them. I really liked the idea of that, and I wish Ubisoft will add something similar in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. We also know that there will be a medusa, as we saw a boss battle in the new footage.

Another rumor that is surrounding the game is that the player will be able to go to Atlantis in further expansions. Atlantis is a cool section and we might be able to see Poseidon if the rumor is true. That
will really be a cool DLC, and hopefully, that will end up in the game. There are also other rumors that in the future DLC, you won't be controlling the main game characters Alexios and Kassandra.

Another rumor is the whole fact that you are going to be kicked out from your job as a mercenary. That has to do with the story and everything, and the rumor says that you are a mercenary in the beginning of the game and get kicked out during the middle or something. I'm not sure if that is real or not, but we will see.

Well that is about it for the rumor section of this post, let's now move on to the release date!

Release Date

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will be going to be released October 5, 2018. If you ask me, I think this game should have either been released earlier or it should have just be released next year, because with Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man, God of War, Far Cry 5, Monster Hunter: World and other games, this game might struggle. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but 2018 is a busy year.
