Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Top Ten Best Characters

Hey Guys! Welcome back! Today I decided to do another top ten list, and this time Mario Kart 8 was chosen. Before we start, have a moment to think, what is Mario Kart 8, and how do you play it? Don't worry you have me. Before we start the top ten list, let's talk about the game. You can also check about Temple King's post about it. Let's start with the differences from the original Mario Kart. Actually let's start with the about.

About

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was only released for Nintendo Switch. Which is such a shame. Nintendo Switch is all awesome and all but it's only out for one console. This game was officially released on April 28, 2017. There are several new characters and more options in the battle mode. It is the 9 Mario Kart game. The game was first announced on January 13, 2017. Some of the new characters include Link and Inklings. This is the updated title of Mariokart 8 wii u

Differences between the original

There's quite a lot of differences in this new version of Mario Kart. In the new version of Mario Kart, you can now hold 2 items at once, and the game also features a double item box. Not a good player at driving game? Well no problem, because Mario Kart 8 Deluxe now has something called a smart steering and auto accelerate for beginners like me. This helps driving and staying on the track easier

There's also been a 200cc engine class for Time Trials and there's an additional level of Mini-Turbo, called Ultra Mini Turbo, denoted by purple sparks that appear after the orange sparks. This one can be only obtained if Smart Steering is off, which is such a shame!

There are currently 48 race courses. The red shells, and spiny shells, are now slower, and locks on to the opponent.

Battle Mode

One of the biggest changes made between the port and the original release of Mario Kart 8 is the revamped Battle Mode. Battle Mode now return to the traditional arena-based battle and unlike previous games, each player starts with five balloons, as opposed to three. Another addition to Battle Mode is that the character in the lead now wears a crown, unlike in Mario Kart 8where the crown is displayed only on the HUD map. Additionally, players now start out with no points instead of Mario Kart 8's default three points, and their balloons do not serve as the remaining three points. Returning from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 is the ability to respawn after all balloons are popped; this causes the player's total score to halve and the player respawns with three balloons instead of five. A new addition to this mode is the feature to tell exactly which character hit whom, which appears on the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, after getting hit, players now have about 1.5 seconds of invincibility frames, unlike in Mario Kart 8. The item options also appear to have been updated; alongside the "Frantic Items" option, a "Skilled Items" option is also available for selection; it is currently unknown what items appear during this selection.
There are five different Battle Mode types:
  • Balloon Battle: The classic mode where players use items to pop opponents' balloons or steal them in order to score points. This mode now uses the point-based set-up seen in Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, rather than the last man standing set-up of Super Mario Kart-Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 8.
  • Renegade Roundup: A new mode in the vein of "cops and robbers", with the racers being divided into two teams. One team, known as "The Authorities", has to use Potted Piranha Plants (which are permanently attached to the front of their vehicle and only serve to capture the opposing team; they do not operate like the regular item) in order to attack and capture players from the other team, known as "The Renegades". Captured Renegades are placed into one of several jail cells floating above various points on the stage. Remaining Renegades can free their teammates by driving over a key switch placed below the jail cells. The Renegades win if at least one member is still running free when time runs out, and the Authorities win if all of the Renegades get captured. All Authority team members also temporarily lose their ability to capture after being hit by an item and Renegades receive a speed boost when they are freed from the cells.
  • Bob-omb Blast: A returning mode from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, in which players attack one another using Bob-omb to score points and can carry up to 10 Bob-ombs. This version follows all of the same rules as Balloon Battle, the difference being that every Item Box gives the player one Bob-omb, and Double Item Boxes yield two Bob-ombs.
  • Coin Runners: Originating in Mario Kart Wii, this mode was last seen in Mario Kart 7. Players must collect Coins scattered across the course in order to have the most by the end of the match. Plays more akin to the Mario Kart Wii version of the mode, with players having no limit to the amount of coins they can collect, as opposed to the 10-coin limit in the Mario Kart 7 version.
  • Shine Thief: Another returning mode from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, one player must retrieve a Shine Sprite and keep hold of it for about 20 seconds, while the opponents use items against whoever has the Shine to force that player to drop it. The driver holding the shine sprite has a slightly reduced top speed.
There is also the option to randomly select one of the five available modes by choosing "Random Battle".
Top Ten Best Characters
10. Ludwig Von Koopa

Ludwing Von Koopa is the oldest of the Koopalings and is also the coolest looking one from the 7 Koopalings. He is in the medium weight class, and has an awesome vehicle. Nothing can be better than Ludwing Von Koopa, and his crazy awesome vehicle. He certainly deserves to sit in number ten.

9. Rosalina

Rosalina is like Princess Peach, but so much cooler version of her. She was in Mario Kart since 2008, in Mario Kart Wii, and she has her own game and all. My advice when using her, is to use her motorcycle. That's her best vehicle, and is guaranteed to come at least 3rd place with her. And there goes number 9. And let's zoom into number 8!

8. Yoshi

What can be better than a man-eating dragon? It's YOSHI!!! Yoshi is such an awesome character, and has it's own games! He has also can change color. His vehicles is great for steering and is very speedy. And Yoshi's one of the most popular character in the mario world. And now let's splat the number 8 with ink, and Ladies and Gentlemen it's the Inklings!!!

7. Inklings

The Inklings are long beloved so having them in Mario kart is such a great idea that we couldn't help but add them to this list. You can even change there colors! I mean, if that's not cool, I don't know what is. Inklings has first appeared in Splatoon, make sure to check Temple King's post out, if you want more information. Inklings are so awesome, and is great for racing. It is in the medium weight class, but is still awesome. Let's now be shy and cover our eyes at number 7, and open them to number 8, it's the Shy Guy!!!!

6. Shy guy

The HQ loves Shy guy so we thought it was great that he is in the game. You can change his color and he's just great. He was created in one of the first Mario Kart game, but he's still awesome. He has great vehicles, and he's sort of the guy you expect to be good at throwing shells. Now let's throw our bones, until we cover number 6, and drive in to number 5, it's Dry Bones!!!

5. Dry Bones

Dry bones was very famously known for being Koopa's minions. But still he's just so awesome, and I'd say, he's even faster that Koopa! Dry Bones, has been in Mario Kart since almost when it was first created. Dry Bones, is quite speedy, but is better for steering. Let's throw our banana's to number 5 and let's climb our way to number 4, it's Diddy Kong!!!

4. Diddy Kong

Diddy Kong is like a child of Donkey Kong. Surprisingly though, instead of being in the light class, Diddy Kong is in the medium class, instead of the light class. He's very speedy, and is OK for steering. He's also pretty good with banana related items. Let's wear our fire balls to number 4 and burn it down, and let's fly with our helicopters to number 4. Yes, it's the guy who started it all, ladies and gents, it's MARIO!!!

3. Mario

Perhaps, Mario is the only reason why nintendo is still alive. Mario was always here, and it's almost impossible to think of Nintendo without Mario. I always use Mario, not because he's famous, but because he's awesome, and he has cool vehicles. His vehicles are evenly balanced and it's fantastic. Not let's shoot number three with our arrows and grab our sword and charge in to number 2. It's the INCREDIBLE LINK!!!

2. Link

Link is one of the newest character in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe along with the Inkligs. Link's best vehicle, is probably his motor cycle. The speed's incredible, but not that good with steering. Link also is a cool looking character, and is really awesome to have Link from the Zelda world, to Mario from the Peach world. Now let's growl at number 2 and throw our shells, and ride our helicopter to number ONE! YES, IT'S BOWSER JR!

1. Bowser Jr.

This is Temple King's favorite character, and honestly, I also love this character from the original Mario World. He is awesome with shells, and is in light class, making him incredibly fast, and his vehicle is also good for steering. Without Bowser Jr Mario Kart is just rubbish.

Thank you so much for watching. If you liked it, don't forget to throw your fire balls to the like button, and get your car and roll over the subscribe button. Again, thank you so much for watching, and I'll see you guys next time! BYE!!!
