Mario Party 10 (Wii U) Review

Mario Party 10, for the Wii U, is the 14th installment of the Mario Party series, and it is a relatively fun game. There are three distinct modes, Mario Party, Bowser Party, and amiibo Party, but there are also bonus things, like the Bonus Games, Toad's Shop, and the amiibo Bonus.

First of all,  the Mario Party segment. This is like Mario Party 9, but with new boards that follow the same concept/theme as that game. You go around the board, collect mini stars, avoid mini ztars, and win at boss battles and minigames. I like these new boards, but I wish there was something new in this mode, other than plain old mario party.

Then, we have the Bowser Party. Here is where things get interesting. You start with 6 hearts, and you roll like normal, but there are no mini stars/ztars. You only have regular board spaces. But then, when everyone rolls, Bowser comes in and "ruins" the fun. Someone can be playing as Bowser, and after Bowser rolls and catches up with your team, they play a special minigame where Mario and his crew have to dodge attacks from Bowser. If Bowser knocks everyone out (everyone has 0 hearts) then Bowser wins. If Mario and his crew reach the end first, then they win. This is the best mode by far. It is so much different and unique.

Then, there is the amiibo party, which sucks. I don't like amiibos generally, but this is worse. They put the concept of all the other Mario Parties, with stars and coins, into this game, which is very unoriginal. I don't like the idea where you have to put your amiibo on every time to roll. I only like the idea of it though.

Overall, I think this is a very interesting game, some uniqueness, but if they thought about it more, then I think I would like it more. I would give it 8/10.
